The Nichols Improvement Association (NIA) is a non-profit organization of volunteers chartered with helping to preserve the heritage and distinctive character of the Nichols community. We sponsor many family-oriented events throughout the year. Membership is available to Trumbull residents living in the Nichols Fire District.
Registration is Open!
Camp Starkweather will start June 24th and run through August 2nd. Themes this year include: Outdoor Explorers, Cirque du Summer, Big Splash, Innovation and Discovery, Top Secret, and Canvas Creations. Join us for a summer of discovery, camaraderie, and the wonders of the great outdoors!

Volunteers Needed!
We are currently looking for a person to join our Executive Board to help with Activities & Events.

We are also looking for people to help the Activities & Events Chairperson with events throughout the year. If you are interested in joining us (in any capacity), please send an email with availability and preferences to president@niatrumbull.org. If you have a friend you’d like to team up with and co- chair, let us know.

The NIA Camp Starkweather is looking to hire Camp Counselors for the upcoming 2024 camp season! If you know a 16+ individual looking for an amazing summer job this could be the right fit. Preserving the Heritage and Distinctive Character of the Nichols Community

The Nichols Improvement Association is a non-profit 501c3 located in the heart of historic Nichols in Trumbull CT. Situated on 42 beautiful acres, the NIA is home to the landmark Bunny Fountain, Five Pennies Playground, Frog Pond, Moore Ball Fields, and the Nichols Community Center (a.k.a. the Starkweather House). The expansive property also includes the Nichols Green, the site of the Flag Pole, WWI & WWII memorials, and our beautiful Christmas Tree.

Enjoy the Benefits of NIA Membership

All residents of the Nichols Fire Tax District are invited to join the NIA and participate in the community activities we offer year-round. Monetary donations and Membership Fees allow us to improve the historic NIA property, cover operating costs and help to fund our proprietary programs and events.

Members Include:

  • Parking Sticker(s)
  • Our Monthly NIA e-Newsletter
  • Use of 42-acres of property, including our 5 Pennies Playground, Frog Pond and walking trails
  • The ability to rent the Starkweather House and the Moore Ball Fields for private events
  • Priority access and discounted rates for all NIA programs, classes, and camps
  • Entry to all of our free workshops and events
  • All memberships are 100% tax deductible and are good for one calendar year (From January 1st to December 31st)

exclusively by NIA Members for private events and functions.

NIA Programs

Our programming is designed to foster a strong sense of community and encourage neighbors to get to know each other. We offer a diverse range of events throughout the year that cater to people of all ages and interests. Our programming has been highly successful over the years, thanks to the support and involvement of our dedicated members and volunteers.
