EVENT REGISTRATION REQUIRED
NIA members should register for this FREE event by August 16th. The event will be limited to the first 30 NIA members who register. A waitlist will be created if necessary.
It's time to get out and explore the NIA's nature trails by participating in our summer trail walk! We will loop through our forest, take a lap around Frog Pond, check out the "big rock," and cross the bridges, for a hike that will be a "just right" mile or so. Fun in nature "right in our own backyard"!
PLUS, this summer's trail walk will be led by local naturalist and expert Mark Ceneri who comes to us from the Trumbull Nature and Arts Center. Mark will point out interesting characteristics of local plants and animals. He will identify native as well as invasive species. Every walk Mark leads is different depending on what is in bloom at that time, and which animals/birds are in the area. He'll talk about the natural history of the region and generally help us better get to know the NIA's green space and wildlife!
*All NIA members are welcome to attend this event, but please be advised our trails are not paved. This trail walk is on relatively level ground, but there are of course the sorts of roots, bumps, fallen logs and so on that one should expect in a setting like the NIA trails.
*If you wish to bring your dog, only dogs on leashes are allowed on the NIA trails and you are responsible for any clean-up.
*Light snacks and water will be provided.
